Trust in God

It was Chloe’s little sister Zoe’s first day of kindergarten. She kept crying.

“Mom can you please make Zoe stop crying! She’s embarrassing me!” Chloe asked.

“Be nice, Chloe. You were like this on the first day of school too. But way worse! You had a tantrum, and I couldn’t get you off the kitchen floor. But you know what I told you?”

“What?” asked Chloe.

“I told you that God would be with you.  The Bible says to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). And you know what you did?” asked Mom.

“I don’t know. What?” Chloe asked.

“You asked to hear another Bible verse like that! So I told you this one: ‘When I am afraid, I put my trust in you – In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.’  That’s Psalm 56:3-4!”

“I know what that is! We learned it in Sunday school! It tells us to trust God when we feel afraid.  He is always with us.

“Exactly,” said Mom.  “When I shared that verse with you, you said, ‘Yay! God can be my best friend in school!’”

Chloe laughed and then Zoe started laughing and running around and saying, “God’s our best friend! He’s so great! I trust him!”

Everybody laughed!

We can trust God when we feel afraid.  He is always with us.  Even when we feel alone, we never really are alone!  God is always right beside us!
