Hi! Today our lesson is about why we rest on Sunday. Let\u2019s get to it!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Harper was on her laptop when her dad knocked on the door.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d she called<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to work. I have to get a lesson plan.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut it’s Saturday! Can\u2019t you go tomorrow? I wanted to go to the park with you,\u201d Harper called.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOpen the door and let me tell you about why I can\u2019t go tomorrow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Harper opened the door and they both sat on Harper\u2019s bed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, the reason is because Sunday is a day of rest.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy? I mean so is Satur . . .”<\/span><\/p>\n

Harper\u2019s dad interrupted, \u201cHave you ever read about how God made the earth?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUmm . . . Ya, I mean I’m not four,\u201d Harper said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGreat,\u201d Dad said, \u201cDo you know what God made on the first day?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Harper shrugged, \u201cUmmm . . . should I? I mean, I know God made everything.\u00a0 I just don’t know the order.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe made light. Do you know what he made the seventh day?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

By this time Harper was getting her Bible out.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHmm, it says God rested\u2026. Wait, God can rest?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe can do anything, Harper,\u201d Dad said, \u201cA line from Exodus 20:8 says, ‘<\/span>Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God.’\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, Dad,\u201d said Harper, \u201cAt least we can go the park tomorrow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dad smiled. \u201cAt least.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As you can see, God set the example for us when he showed us the importance of resting one day a week.\u00a0 You can choose to take a day of rest on Sunday or on a different day of the week if that works better for your family.\u00a0 Set aside certain activities you really enjoy for your day of rest.\u00a0 Think about putting away your electronics for the day (or part of the day).\u00a0 This can help you rest and enjoy your family and friends.<\/p>\n

Most of all, make your day of rest a day you look forward to!\u00a0 Fill it with activities you love, and you will be rested when the day is over!<\/p>\n
