{"id":482,"date":"2022-11-27T03:24:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-27T03:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staceypardoe.com\/BekahPardoe\/?p=482"},"modified":"2022-12-03T15:05:51","modified_gmt":"2022-12-03T15:05:51","slug":"embracing-your-uniqueness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staceypardoe.com\/BekahPardoe\/embracing-your-uniqueness\/","title":{"rendered":"Embracing Your Uniqueness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Do you ever have trouble embracing your uniqueness?\u00a0 Do you ever feel less-than or left out?\u00a0 This is for you today.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Princesses and Tomboys: Embracing Your Uniqueness<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cFor you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother\u2019s womb\u201d (Psalm 139:13).<\/p>\n<h4>Mom\u2019s Thoughts on Embracing Your Uniqueness:<\/h4>\n<p>When I was younger, our school put on a rendition of <em>Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs<\/em>.\u00a0 Much to my dismay, I was given the role of one of the seven dwarfs: Grumpy!<\/p>\n<p>As much as I would have loved to play Snow White, I knew I wasn\u2019t a good fit for the role.\u00a0 I was a tomboy.\u00a0 At the time, I had short hair that made me look more like a boy than a beautiful princess.\u00a0 For the most part, I embraced my boyish appearance; however, deep within me, I wished I looked more like a princess.<\/p>\n<p>The year I played Grumpy in the class play, I remember feeling like I wasn&#8217;t very pretty.\u00a0 I looked at my friend who was playing Snow White, and I wished I had her hair, her voice, and her beautiful cheekbones.\u00a0 Compared to Snow White, I felt like something inside of me was lacking.<\/p>\n<p>In response to these feelings, I decided to build my identity around being sporty and boyish because I was good at being sporty and boyish.<\/p>\n<p>Like me, you might look around at other girls and wish you had different hair, different talents, or fancier clothes.\u00a0 You might love painting your nails and dressing up, or you might prefer muddy boots and baseball caps.\u00a0 Either way, God made you beautiful, talented, and one-of-a-kind.\u00a0 There\u2019s no one else just like you, and God wants you to embrace the way he made you.<\/p>\n<p>You are free to dress like a princess or a tomboy, but don\u2019t choose the way you will look based on feeling less-than or comparing yourself to others.\u00a0 Do what you love.\u00a0 Embrace the way God made <em>you<\/em>.\u00a0 You are free to be yourself, and when you are yourself, you bring a wonderful and unique gift to the world!<\/p>\n<h4>Bekah&#8217;s Thoughts (Girl to Girl):<\/h4>\n<p>What\u2019s unique about you? \u00a0I\u2019m unique in many ways, and I feel special; however, sometimes I feel the need to hide my uniqueness in order to fit in. \u00a0For example, I like to go hunting. Very few girls in my school hunt. \u00a0Sometimes, I feel like I need to be just like everybody else in order to be cool, but that isn\u2019t true. \u00a0We should each embrace our differences and be proud of them.<\/p>\n<p>At times, believing in God might make you feel different from others.\u00a0 Sometime in your life, someone might make you feel uncool because of your faith, but don\u2019t let it get to you.\u00a0 Be proud of your faith, and be proud of your uniqueness.\u00a0 Own it.\u00a0 People will look up to you for that.<\/p>\n<h4>Talk About It:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Name three characteristics you like about yourself.<\/li>\n<li>Is there anything about you that you would like to change? Why do you want to change this part of you?<\/li>\n<li>God made you the way you are for a reason. In what ways might you use your most unique talents and<a href=\"https:\/\/staceypardoe.com\/BekahPardoe\/?p=288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> interests<\/strong><\/a> to bless others?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Pray Together:<\/h4>\n<p>Lord Jesus, we thank you for loving us just the way we are.\u00a0 Thank you that you don\u2019t make mistakes and that you have plans and purposes for our lives.\u00a0 Help us trust you as we embrace the parts of ourselves that make us feel different from others.\u00a0 Show us how to use these traits and interests to bless others.\u00a0
