Why Working With All Your Heart Matters<\/h3>\n

\u201cWhatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters\u201d (Colossians 3:23).<\/p>\n

Mom\u2019s Thoughts on Working With All Your Heart:<\/h4>\n

Do you have a favorite class at school?\u00a0 One of my favorite classes in middle school was art class.\u00a0 I was creative, and I loved to paint, sculpt, and create artwork with my hands.\u00a0 I also admired our art teacher and wanted to please her.<\/p>\n

One afternoon, our assignment was to create a piece of artwork that could be used as a stamp.\u00a0 We were to cut shapes out from a thin sheet of rubber and glue them onto a piece of cardboard.\u00a0 After the project dried, we could dip it into paint and use it as a stamp.<\/p>\n

I was having fun goofing around with my friends that afternoon in art class, and I didn\u2019t put my best effort into making my stamp.\u00a0 I cut a few shards of rubber, glued them onto the cardboard, and gave a half-hearted effort at making a picture.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll never forget the look on my art teacher\u2019s face when she saw my sloppy project.\u00a0 Shaking her head, she told me she expected better from me and was very disappointed.\u00a0 She then set the project on the table and walked away.<\/p>\n

I immediately felt horrible.\u00a0 I knew I\u2019d let my teacher down.\u00a0 I\u2019d given a half-hearted effort, and I was ashamed of myself.<\/p>\n

That night, I went home and found an old rubber innertube in my parents\u2019 barn.\u00a0 I went to my room and spent over an hour cutting an exquisite design of a beagle sitting in front of a fireplace\u2014carefully gluing the rubber to a piece of cardboard I found in the basement.<\/p>\n

The next morning, I humbly walked to the art room, apologized to the teacher, and asked if I could have a second chance.\u00a0 I\u2019ll never forget the smile on her face when I showed her my new project.\u00a0 I also learned a life-long lesson: Never give less than your best.\u00a0 God wants us to put our whole hearts<\/a> into everything we do, whether it\u2019s a homework assignment, household chore, or even investing in a relationship.<\/p>\n

Bekah’s Thoughts (Girl to Girl):<\/h4>\n

Sometimes we all <\/em>feel lazy. Sometimes we all<\/em> slack off. \u00a0However, that doesn\u2019t mean we should<\/em> be lazy and slack off!<\/p>\n

Have you ever had to do something that you didn\u2019t really want to do? Do you ever not put your full effort into tasks you don\u2019t enjoy? \u00a0It\u2019s tough to give lots of effort when you\u2019re doing something you don\u2019t enjoy, but it\u2019s important to put your full effort into everything\u2014after all, work hard, play hard!<\/p>\n

Once, I had to take a test that I didn\u2019t want to take. Sadly, I didn\u2019t put my full effort into it, and I ended up getting a not-so-great grade. It was a good lesson for me: A poor effort often leads to poor results!<\/p>\n
