A New Year Devotional to Help You Start Strong
Do you enjoy reading from an Advent devotional throughout December? If you’re like me, you hit a wall when Christmas comes and the devotional ends. You feel a bit lost and aren’t sure what’s next. Why I Wrote This New Year Devotional
I spent years reading my Bible and practicing a morning devotional routine without regularly encountering God in the process. My devotional time felt more like homework than a replenishing encounter with a loved one.

Research shows that we can create new habits by repeatedly engaging in a behavior for about two months. This devotional leads you through one month of habit-setting. Each devotion takes less than five minutes to read. You will find a Bible verse, commentary, and several questions to help you reflect on the day’s reading.
Not Your Average Devotional
At the end of each devotion, you’ll find an “Invitation to Encounter God and Begin Well.” These exercises are designed to help you actually encounter the Living God as you spend time with Him.
These devotions are more than just words; they will change the way you relate with God by helping you directly engage with him, wrestle through hard things with him, and talk to him about your struggles. God is waiting to shape your heart and help you become more like Jesus. This is spiritual formation. Mornings With Jesus will help you participate in God’s soul-shaping work.
By the end of these 31 devotions, I pray you will be encouraged to keep going with the habit of starting your day with Jesus. I also pray you will be drawn to Him in such a way that you don’t leave your devotional time and forget all about Him. Jesus wants to connect with you all day—every day. By starting your day with Him, you attune yourself to His presence. You also prepare your mind to stay in tune with Him throughout your days.
