Overcoming Trials

A Powerful Prayer for Healing: Press Into God’s Power

Praying the words of others can be a powerful way to pray because we can soak in the words we are praying rather than trying to think of what to say.  Others’ prayers can guide us and lift our heads when our emotions are shaken.  Today, we’ll discover a powerful prayer for healing by an Italian priest named St. Padre Pio.

Then, we’ll pray seven additional prayers for healing.

I invite you to join me as I recently sat by the window at dawn and prayed this prayer.  Be sure to read to the end of today’s post for a free devotional eBook to help you draw near to God.

A Powerful Prayer for Healing

Like a quiet sea at dawn, an orchid ocean of clouds hovers above the northern skyline.  Even the oaks stand in awe—their lush summer canopies outstretched in reverence.  I look to the heavens and utter a prayer for healing as I ask God to touch the body of a loved one.

As I sit at the window, I find the words of a prayer by St. Padre Pio, an Italian priest who ministered in the 1900’s.

St. Padre Pio is famous for the following powerful prayer for healing.

If you, or someone you love, needs healing today, I encourage you pray these words.  Read them out loud.  Ask God to bring your heart into alignment with his heart as you pray.

We will pray this prayer together, and then I’ll offer more biblical prayers for healing at the end of today’s post.

A Powerful Prayer for Healing by St. Padre Pio

Here is St. Padre Pio’s powerful prayer for healing:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me. I thank you for sending your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to the world to save and to set me free. I trust in your power and grace that sustain and restore me.

Loving Father, touch me now with your healing hands, for I believe that your will is for me to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit. Cover me with the most precious blood of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.

Cast out anything that should not be in me. Root out any unhealthy and abnormal cells. Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild and replenish any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection by the power of Jesus’ precious blood.

Let the fire of your healing love pass through my entire body to heal and make new any diseased areas so that my body will function the way you created it to function. Touch also my mind and my emotion, even the deepest recesses of my heart.

Saturate my entire being with your presence, love, joy and peace and draw me ever closer to you every moment of my life. And Father, fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to do your works so that my life will bring glory and honour to your holy name. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

More Powerful Healing Prayers

If this prayer blessed you, I invite you to pray the following healing prayers from Scripture.

Here are 7 powerful prayers for healing.

1. Father, humble me in your presence.

Psalm 51:17 reads, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.”

We cannot step into God’s spiritual power and authority until we humble ourselves and recognize our need for him.  This is the first step toward healing.

Here is a prayer: “Lord, we ask for humble and contrite hearts.  Remind us that we can do nothing of eternal value apart from you.  We pray that you will humble our hearts.  Teach us to become wholly dependent upon you.”

2. Father, enable me to turn away from sin and turn toward you in repentance.

Second Chronicles 7:14 reads, “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

As we pray for healing, we can follow in this prayer for repentance and revival.

Here is a prayer: “Father, we humble ourselves before you.  Help us turn from evil and hear from you.  Lord, please forgive our sins and heal our land.  Lord, I ask you to search my heart and reveal any unconfessed sins to you.  Empower me to repent and return to you.”

3. Lord, thank you that I have all authority in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:37 reads, “In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

No matter what you face today, you are more than a conqueror through Christ.  All authority in heaven and earth belongs to him.

If you follow Jesus, you have this same authority because you are found in him.  Claim it and stand on it.

Here is a prayer: “In the name and authority of Jesus, we pray for the forces of destruction and evil to submit to the will of Jesus.  We take back the ground that has been claimed by evil and humble ourselves before the Lord.  We claim healing and wholeness over our bodies, our relationships, our memories, and every realm of our lives.”A Powerful Prayer for Healing

4. God, help me find my strength in you, not in my might or power.

Zechariah 4:6 reads, “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.”

The Holy Spirit lives inside every believer.  Press into this power and ask God to make his power known in your life.

Here is a prayer: “By the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray for God’s people to rise up and take a stand against the evil, illness, and destruction that prevails around us in the world.  Unify our hearts and bring us together in one spirit, enabling us to stand together in love as we fight against the evil surrounding us.”

5. In the name of Jesus, we command evil spirits to depart and go where Jesus sends you.

John 10:10 reads, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

How can we tell when Satan is on the move?

He comes to destroy.  If you are facing the threat of loss, death, or destruction of any sort, Satan is at work.

Stand against all destructive works of the enemy by declaring that you have abundant life in Christ.  Begin speaking the verses from this list out loud.  Refuse to be intimidated.  You have all authority when you speak out in Jesus’ name.

Here is a prayer: “In the name of Jesus, we command the destructive spirits attacking our homes, communities, and bodies to depart.  We speak the healing power of Jesus over these places and plead the blood of Christ, who overcame evil when he rose from the grave.”

6. We stand in agreement as we bind all evil spirits in Jesus’ name.

Matthew 18:18-19 reads, “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

Jesus gave his disciples authority in the spiritual realm.  We stand in this authority, too.

This verse reminds us to ask God to bring his kingdom to earth as he rules and reigns over all spiritual powers.  It also reminds us to unite with others in prayer.  When we join together in praying, we are strengthened.

Don’t fight your spiritual battles alone.  Find someone who will pray with you.

Here is a prayer: “Lord, we bind the spirits of evil, division, illness, and destruction in our nation and in our world.  We stand in agreement as we lift this prayer before your throne and thank you for hearing us.”

7. God, we pray for your kingdom to come to earth through the manifestation of physical healing.

Matthew 9:35 reads, “And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.”

God’s kingdom is manifested through physical healing.

Here is a prayer: “God, we pray for your kingdom to come to earth through the manifestation of physical healing.  Touch our bodies.  Heal our diseases.  Most of all, lead us into the healing light of your glorious presence so that we might sing the praises of the One who called us out of darkness and into marvelous light.”
