Bible Truth for Everyday Life

A Free New Year Devotional to Help You Start Strong

Do you want to start the year by renewing your commitment to spend time with God?  Like me, maybe you enjoy reading from an Advent devotional throughout December, but you hit a wall when the devotional ends.  You feel a bit lost and aren’t sure what’s next.  I have fantastic news.  I have a free New Year devotional for you.  Mornings With Jesus will help you connect with Jesus every morning for the next 31 days!

Why I Wrote This New Year Devotional

I spent years reading my Bible and practicing a morning devotional routine without regularly encountering God in the process.  My devotional time felt more like homework than a replenishing encounter with a loved one.

Can you relate?

Friend, God wants to meet with you, speak to you, and fill you up when you meet with Him.  Mornings With Jesus will help you encounter God in ways that shape you, challenge you, replenish you, and transform your life.

Research shows that we can create new habits by repeatedly engaging in a behavior for about two months.  This devotional leads you through one month of habit-setting.  Each devotion takes less than five minutes to read. You will find a Bible verse, commentary, and several questions to help you reflect on the day’s reading.

Not Your Average Devotional

At the end of each devotion, you’ll find an “Invitation to Encounter God and Begin Well.” These exercises are designed to help you actually encounter the Living God as you spend time with him.

These devotions are more than just words; they will change the way you relate with God by helping you directly engage with him, wrestle through hard things with him, and talk to him about your struggles.  God is waiting to shape your heart and help you become more like Jesus. This is spiritual formation.  Mornings With Jesus will help you participate in God’s soul-shaping work.

By the end of these 31 devotions, I pray you will be encouraged to keep going with the habit of starting your day with Jesus.  I also pray you will be drawn to him in such a way that you don’t leave your devotional time and forget all about Him.  Jesus wants to connect with you all day—every day.  By starting your day with Him, you attune yourself to His presence.  You also prepare your mind to stay in tune with him throughout your days.

Before you go, we invite you to check out our one-of-a-kind mother-daughter devotional that can launch you into the new year with a closer relationship and deeper faith.  This one isn’t free, but as a reviewer shared, “It’s worth its weight in gold.”  We fully believe this.

Do you want to open the lines of communication with your daughter, connect on deeper levels, laugh together, and grow in your faith together?  Maybe you don’t have a daughter, but you would love to connect with a granddaughter, niece, or younger woman in your life.  Perhaps you would love to support a mother-daughter duo you care about.

If any of this resonates with you, I have a tool to help you.  My 12-year-old daughter Bekah and I wrote a mother-daughter devotional book together, and it is designed to help moms and daughters connect and grow in faith together.  It’s called Girl to Girl: 60 Mother-Daughter Devotions for a Closer Relationship and Deeper Faith.  It includes 60 devotions with Scripture, commentaries from both of us, conversation starters, and even a journaling section.  We had a blast writing it, and we are so excited to share it with you.  You can buy your paperback or eBook on Amazon for just $10.99 right here.  This book also makes a powerful gift for the mothers and daughters you care about!  We encourage you to check it out!

I’m passionate about equipping others to encounter God in powerful and life-changing ways. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me hiking, jogging, exploring wild places with my three young children and husband, leading small groups, and mentoring younger women. A certified special education teacher, I am on leave from the classroom for a season of chasing frogs and playing in creeks with my little ones. Most of all, the compassionate love of Jesus has forever ravished my heart, and I'm emphatic about making his love known to the world.
