A Boys’ Devotional Book for Courage and Strength
Over the past few years, after writing two mother-daughter devotional books with our daughter, Bekah, many people have asked if I’ll ever write a boys’ devotional book with our sons. We have news to share today! We finally did it!
Our Boys’ Devotional Book
Throughout the summer months, Aiden, Caleb, and I worked together to write a boys’ devotional called God’s Warrior: Devotions for Boys Who Want to Grow in Courage and Strength. Now more than ever, our world needs more warriors who know what it means to walk with God and shine his light in the world. We hope to help young boys grow into God’s warriors by teaching them 40 ways to be courageous in their faith.
More About Our Boys’ Devotional Book
Here are a few more details about the book! Our vision is for a parent, grandparent, older sibling, or any older, trusted adult to read each devotion with the boy they care about.
God’s Warrior is an empowering daily devotional for boys who want to grow in courage, strength, and faith. Each daily reading includes encouragement from boys your age who are facing the same battles you face every day. You will learn what it means to be a courageous warrior for God by taking some of these action steps:
- Building your Jesus-confidence
- Doing what’s right when no one is watching
- Trusting God when life is tough
- Facing failure and persevering through setbacks
- Waging war against fear and worry
- Standing against negative peer pressure
- Actively becoming a prayer warrior
- Finding fearsome friends
How to Use the Book
These 40 short devotions for boys are perfect for reading out loud together and can be read in a few minutes. Each devotion includes a Bible verse for life’s battles, a short commentary, three truths to stand on, words from a fellow warrior (thoughts directly shared from boys your age), a warrior prayer, questions to discuss, and an action step.
These devotions include insights from two boys, ages 6 and 11, making 5-12 the ideal age range for young readers. You will learn how to shine the light of Jesus as you walk in his courage and strength. Let this powerful devotional be a springboard into greater maturity, deeper confidence, and stronger faith!
Behind the Scenes
Many people have asked what the process of allowing Aiden and Caleb to contribute looked like. The boys really wanted to help me with this book. Because of their ages, I decided the best way to add their contributions would be to interview them and then add their answers to the book later. This process involved a great deal of wrestling on the floor (between the boys as I sat at the computer), jumping on beds, and general chaos.
Following their interview responses, I often had to rephrase my questions after saying, “Uh, we probably shouldn’t put that answer in the book.”
Don’t worry. I left as many funny responses as possible, and we hope this book blesses multitudes of families. You can find an example of one of the devotions by visiting this post!
