7 Bible Verses About God’s Plan and Timing
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
2 Samuel 22:20
Stacey’s Thoughts on God’s Plans for Your Life:
When I was a teenager, one of my greatest dreams was to win a medal at the state track meet. My race was the 800-meter run, and I had visions of standing on the podium to receive my hard-earned gold medal.
Sadly, due to an injury, my dream never came to life. I’ll never forget sobbing behind the bleachers at the district track meet after failing to reach my goal. I felt like a little girl standing in a dark room—alone, frustrated, and embarrassed that I had the boldness to chase a dream in the first place.
Looking back on my dream of track stardom, I’m thankful God didn’t let me win a medal at the state track meet.
God used my disappointment to teach me to find my identity in his love instead of finding my identity through my accomplishments. He taught me that some dreams fall apart because he is protecting us, and his ways are always better than our ways.
Keep dreaming big and keep chasing your dreams. But don’t forget to ask God to help you follow him as you set goals and work to reach them. And when your dreams don’t work out according to your hopes, remind yourself that God is most likely protecting you. He has something even better in store. God’s plans for your life are good, and you can trust him.
Let’s look at some powerful Bible verses about God’s plan and timing.
Bible Verses About God’s Plan and Timing
1. Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (ESV)
God’s plans for you are good. Remind yourself of this when you begin to feel doubtful about the future.
2. Romans 8:28
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (ESV)
This verse reminds us that God is able to work all situations, even terrible ones, for good purposes in our lives. Hold onto this truth when you feel tempted to doubt his goodness.
3. 1 Corinthians 6:19-120
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (ESV)
We are called to honor God with our bodies. Remembering this helps us live within God’s boundaries and fulfill our purposes.
4. Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV)
We are called to follow Jesus and then make followers wherever we go, even to the ends of the earth.
5. Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (ESV)
We were each created to do good works, which God prepared for us. Are you using your God-given gifts and talents to help others? If so, you are fulfilling part of the good works God planned for you.
6. Psalm 37:5
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” (ESV)
We are all called to commit our lives to the Lord. When we do so, he will direct our steps.
7. Exodus 9:16
“But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.” (ESV)
We are to proclaim God’s name to all the earth. We are to point others to him and share his love.

Bekah’s Thoughts on God’s Plans:
Four-year-old Bekah loved to go down to the creek. She would go with her mom and baby brother and try to catch fish, frogs, toads, newts, and anything she could get her hands on. Her mother would always say, “Let’s take them home for one night, and tomorrow we’ll come back and let them go.”
Bekah loved creating habitats for her creatures in her small aquarium. She loved pretending she ran a “Froggy Hotel.” Meanwhile, deep inside, she wanted more. She wanted a creature she could keep forever.
She often asked if she could keep the creatures, but her parents would say, “Sweetie, they will miss their friends. They need to live in the wild.”
Little Bekah felt sad to let them go.
Keeping creatures as pets was a dream I tried to chase for years, but the ending was always the same—we had to let them go. After many years, something wonderful happened! Three years ago, I got a turtle! That was the beginning of a new phase. Before long, we added another turtle, and I’ve had all sorts of pets throughout the years.
It took hard work to save money and buy these pets at the pet store, but it’s been worth it. Unlike the wild creatures we used to find at the creek, these creatures thrive in the habitats we have created in tanks in my bedroom!
Remember this: If a dream doesn’t work out the way you wanted, God might be closing one door, but he is capable of opening another one—a better one!
