Living for God’s Glory: 15 Bible Verses About Glorifying God in All We Do
Years ago, as I sought direction for my life, a mentor encouraged me with these words: “God is more concerned about how you live than where you live or what job you choose. He wants you to glorify him in all you do.” That day, I began searching God’s Word for Bible verses about glorifying God in everything.
Today, I’ll share 15 powerful Bible verses about glorifying God.
I also invite you to read to the end of today’s post for a free devotional eBook to help you glorify God in all you do.
15 Bible Verses About Glorifying God
According to God’s Word, our lives glorify God when his light and love shine through us, transforming our everyday places. Here are 15 Bible verses about living for the glory of God.
Bible Verses About Glorifying God in our Everyday Places
1. Colossians 3:17, ESV
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
We are to do everything in Jesus’ name, thanking God. Gratitude naturally leads to God’s glory because it aligns with his will for us to be thankful in all circumstances.
A simple way to begin living for the glory of God is to cultivate deeper gratitude.
Try thanking God for one gift before you get out of bed each morning. Even better, spend a few minutes thanking him for as many blessings as you can think of. This sets your mind on what is pure, lovely, and good for the whole day.
2. 1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
This verse reminds us to keep God at the forefront of our minds. Everything we do, even the most basic daily tasks, can glorify God when we do them for him.
What would it look like to go about the routine tasks of your day while glorifying God?
The posture of our hearts and our attitudes are important here. When we complete our daily work without grumbling, with joy, we honor God.
3. John 15:8
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
We glorify God when our lives bear good fruit.
The next verse on our list describes this fruit.
4. Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
When our lives are marked by these characteristics, we are bearing good fruit, and this glorifies God.
Periodically, I take some time to reflect on each of these qualities. I ask God to show me where there is room for growth and seek his direction, asking him to help me bear his fruit as I abide in him.
5. Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Our words can either point others to Christ or lead them away from him.
We glorify God when our mouths speak only what honors him.
6. 1 Corinthians 6:20
For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Paul wrote this verse about sexual sin, but honoring God with our bodies goes far beyond sexuality.
Our bodies are not our own. God calls us to be good stewards of our bodies, caring for them as temples of the Holy Spirit. Sleeping, eating, and moving for good health are ways to honoring God with our bodies.
7. 1 Peter 4:11
Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
We should remember that our speech and actions are meant to honor and glorify God. We belong to Jesus, and we are children of the light.

8. Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
God’s light shines through us as we carry his love into the world. We glorify him by loving others, especially those who are different than us.
9. Romans 13:8-10
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
We honor God when we live lives of love.
When we live to love well, we fulfill the rest of the law because the ultimate goal of the law is to teach us to live lovingly.
10. Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
God has prepared good works for each of his children. We are to step into these good works with willing, surrendered hearts. This brings glory and honor to God.
11. Revelation 14:7
And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
The book of Revelation offers many descriptions of heaven and shows us how to glorify God. We were made to worship him in all we do. When our everyday actions become acts of worship and adoration, God receives glory.

12. Philippians 1:9-11
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Living with righteousness and obedience brings God glory on earth. May we remember this in moments of temptation.
13. 1 Peter 4:16
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
When we aren’t ashamed of our calling as Christians, we glorify God with our lives. God wants us to boldly and lovingly proclaim his truth to the world.

I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

15. Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Lastly, we glorify God when we are not ashamed to share the gospel with others, recognizing that this message is the key to eternal life with God.
