18 Encouraging Bible Verses for Women to Grow in Faith
As I write to you today, our daughter is nearing her sixteenth birthday. Lately, we’ve been talking about how to find God’s vision for her future and what it means to be called by God. These conversations have led me into Scripture, seeking God’s Truth about faith, strength, and calling. Today, I’m sharing a list of encouraging Bible verses for women of all ages as we aim to walk in alignment with God and grow deeper in faith.
I encourage you to share these Scriptures with the women you care about and take time soaking in them for yourself.
We’ll explore some of the common Scriptures addressing women, such as Proverbs 31, but we’ll also see how other parts of the Bible apply specifically to women.

Let’s now turn to God’s Word.
18 Bible Verses for Women
1. Proverbs 31:30, ESV
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
To fear the Lord is to honor and revere him, turning to him as our safe place, anchor, and source of wisdom.
When a woman learns to experience God in these ways, her feet are on a firm foundation. Charm and beauty are imperfect and can change with time. But when we love God with our whole hearts and are secure in him, we are free to fulfill his plans for us.
2. Proverbs 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
In today’s culture, wisdom and kindness are overlooked. Some women experience power by being unkind, but this power doesn’t align with God or glorify him.
The strongest women have learned to be gentle, kind, and compassionate, even in the presence of those who don’t understand or receive their kindness.
3. Zechariah 4:6
Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
At a young age, most people learn to rely on their own strength to deliver them from difficult situations and help them climb higher in life.
This verse reminds us that we aren’t to flourish in our human strength. God wants us to rely on his Spirit for strength and power.
At times, this can only happen when we come to the end of ourselves. If you feel weak today, God is orchestrating an opportunity to reveal his power. Turm to him. Ask him for strength. he will make himself known through you.
4. James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
We all face times when we lack wisdom.
In these moments, we can turn to God and ask him for wisdom, and he will provide it.

Have you asked God for wisdom, or have you been relying on your own strength and insight?
5. Proverbs 31:25
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
A woman who loves God is clothed with strength and dignity. Rather than worrying about the future, her heart is light because she trusts that God will guide her.
Most of us tend to worry about certain situations. Instead, what if we learned to lean into God, trusting that he will guide us? Perhaps there would be more room for joy and light-hearted laughter in our lives.

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
Women need relationships with other women.
Our friends challenge us and sharpen us, helping us become more like Jesus.
If you don’t have any close believing friends, ask God to bring such a woman into your life.
7. Jeremiah 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
God wants all his children to cry out to him.
He is waiting to reveal new and hidden things we don’t know. However, if we don’t ask, we may not receive these answers.
8. 1 Timothy 2:9-10
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
True beauty comes from within.
Many women put a great deal of effort into their appearances. Meanwhile, God is more concerned about the fruit displayed in our lives. Here are some the characteristics he values:
9. Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Do these characteristics describe you?
I regularly take time to talk to God about the fruit of the Spirit and ask him to show me where there is room for growth in my life. This can be a helpful practice as we grow in faith.

10. Romans 8:6
For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Instead of fixing our thoughts on satisfying our flesh through things like materialism, sex, and power, we are to set our minds on Christ. As we make this shift, we will experience life and peace through the Spirit of God.
11. 1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
Gentleness is not weakness; it is quiet strength under pressure.
Learn to cultivate this, and you will become truly beautiful.
12. Ephesians 5:1
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
All of God’s children are also called to imitate him, following the example of Jesus and the words of Scripture.
One way we do this is by regularly spending time in God’s Word and asking his Word to renew our minds.
13. 1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!
When we seek the Lord, we find him.
God draws near to those who draw near to him.
When we seek God, he imparts his strength.
14. Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Many women are self-critical.
Meanwhile, God wants us to see ourselves the way he sees us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

15. Esther 4:14
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
God worked through a humble woman named Esther, making her queen and delivering his people from death.
He wants to work through you, too.
What is your “for such a time as this” situation?
16. Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
We are all called to be God’s witnesses across the earth.
Are you testifying to God’s goodness and sharing the gospel? This is an important part of God’s calling.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit . . .
We are also called to make disciples. In the most basic sense, a disciple is a learner, someone who is learning from Jesus.
We fulfill God’s calling when we take this seriously and help others grow in the faith.
18. Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men . . .
Lastly, we are called to put our whole hearts into everything we do, remembering that we are not working only for humans, but for God.
We are to do everything for the glory of the Lord.
